Life insurers seek to ease policyholders' concerns about COVID

 


Seven life insurance providers with more than 14 million customers have launched an initiative to support the national COVID-19 vaccination program.

The We Have You Covered scheme aims to reassure Australians that being stabbed will not affect their existing insurance, future access to a policy or claim.

It also says that any rare serious side effects from an approved COVID vaccine that meet the terms and benefits offered under the customer's policy will be covered.

“Through this initiative, [insurance companies] are working together to give consumers and communities confidence in their approved COVID-19 vaccine and life insurance products.” ,” the insurers said in a joint statement.

The insurers behind this initiative are AIA Australia, ClearView, MetLife, MLC Life Insurance, Resolution Life, TAL and Zurich.

One website, www.wehaveyoucovered.com.au, is available as an educational resource to the community.

“Overall, we feel it is important to provide anyone who is uncertain about the impact of vaccination on their life insurance or future access to coverage, belief that as an industry we have them covered,” said TAL Group CEO and MD Brett Clark.

Insurers are also co-sponsoring a multi-channel media campaign to reach as many Australians as possible.

“When customers have questions about the impact of COVID vaccination on their policies, we feel now is a critical time to set an immediate record, especially as we want to encourage The more Australians get vaccinated, the better,” said Rodney, chief executive officer of MLC Life Insurance Cook.
